عید میلاد النبی اسلامی کیلنڈر کے تیسرے مہینے 12 ربیع الاول کو منائی جاتی ہے۔

اس کا مطلب ہے کہ یہ تاریخ شمسی کیلنڈر کے حساب سے مختلف تاریخوں میں پڑتی ہے۔

بہت سے مسلم ممالک میں اس دن سرکاری چھٹی ہوتی ہے جیسے کہ پاکستان اور وہ ممالک جہاں مسلم آبادی بہت بڑی ہے۔

اس دن نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی ولادت کو اعزاز بخشا جاتا ہے۔

پاکستان دنیا کے ان مسلم ممالک میں سے ایک ہے جہاں نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی حمد و ثنا بیان کرنے کے لئے عید ملاد النبی بڑے پیمانے پر منائی جاتی ہے۔

پاکستان کا قومی پرچم سبھی سرکاری عمارتوں پر لہرایا جاتا ہے، دارالحکومت اسلام آباد میں صبح 31 بندوقوں کی سلامی دی جاتی ہے۔

صوبائی دارالحکومتوں میں اسی وقت 21 بندوقوں کی سلامی دی جاتی ہے۔

پاکستان میں سرکاری اور نجی دونوں عمارتیں روشنی سے منور ہوتی ہیں۔

اس مہینے کی گیارہ اور بارہ تاریخوں کو سیکولر فلمیں دکھانے کے بجائے، سنیما ہال مذہبی فلمیں دکھاتے ہیں۔

لاہور کے مینار پاکستان میں گیارہ کی رات سے لیکر بارہ تک میلاد النبی کے لئے دنیا کا سب سے بڑا اجتماع ہوتا ہے۔

اس اجتماع میں سینکڑوں لوگ شامل ہوتے ہیں جہاں نبی کریم حضرت محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی عقیدت میں کچھ لوگ بہت پرجوش ہو جاتے ہیں۔

حضرت محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی عقیدت میں نعت اور حمد و ثناء گائی جاتی ہیں اور نظمیں پڑھی جاتی ہیں۔

حضرت محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی زندگی کے بارے میں خاص طور سے کچھ مخصوص عبارتیں بھی پڑھی جاتی ہیں۔

دیگر ممالک میں جہاں عید میلاد النبی منائی جاتی ہے تقریبات مختلف طرح کی ہو سکتی ہیں۔

مثلا، ایسا لگتا ہے کہ انڈونیشیا میں عید الفطر اور عید الاضحی کے مقابلے اس مبارک دن کو زیادہ اہمیت دی جاتی ہے، جو کہ اسلام کی دو سرکاری چھٹیاں ہیں۔

The Birthday of Nabi (Peace be upon Him) is celebrated on the twelfth day of the third month of the Islamic calendar, which is Rabi al-Awwal.

This means the date is a floating one on the Gregorian calendar.

It's a public holiday with government approbation in most Muslim countries, including Pakistan, and countries that have a significant Muslim population.

The day honors the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).

Pakistan has some of the Muslim world's biggest celebrations for the Birthday of Nabi aimed at extoling the prophet (Peace be upon Him).

Pakistan's national flag is hoisted up and flown at all public buildings, and in the capital city of Islamabad, a 31-gun salute is done at dawn.

In the provincial capitals, there's a 21-gun salute at the same time.

Fairy lights illuminate both private and public buildings in Pakistan.

Instead of showing secular movies on the eleventh and twelfth of the month, movie theaters show religious films.

Minar e Pakistan in Lahore hosts the world's largest gathering for the Birthday of Nabi at Minar-e-Pakistan on the night of the eleventh into the twelfth.

Hundreds of people attend the gathering, of which some Muslims becoming ebullient as they honor the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).

Hymns and praise songs are sung and chanted, and poems are read in honor of the prophet's (Peace be upon Him) birth.

Also certain texts about the prophet's life are typically read and recited.

In other countries which observe the Birthday of Nabi (Peace be upon Him), the celebrations can vary widely.

For example, Indonesia seems to place more importance on this holy day than on Eid ul-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, which are Islam's two official holidays.

For some Muslims, however, observing the Birthday of Nabi has become more profane rather than sacred in nature with the focus being on more cultural than religious.
