Today’s guest is no stranger to self discovery.
From a young age, she was very aware of the differences between her and her peers, she faced issues with her self esteem and academic confidence that affected her into adulthood. Together, we unpack her experience to disarm the shame that it created for her growing up and discuss how her diagnosis of ADHD and dyslexia changed the course of her life, in tandem with her anxiety and her experience with loss, grief and depression.
Because of her academic challenges growing up, she ended up pursuing a career as a teacher to help support kids like her by utilizing her first hand experiences and the knowledge she’s compiled since her diagnosis to set them up for success. The way she sees it, the education system is changing to not only accommodate different learning styles, but to celebrate them.
Throughout the episode she drops some amazing insights she learned in therapy and emphasizes that there is no finish line when it comes to working on your mental health or learning challenges.
