Umar Shehzad has an electronics engineering degree and a master’s degree in computer science. Umar developed an interest in education through his experience of managing Makeistan, Pakistan’s first academic makerspace, based out of Lahore’s Information Technology University (ITU), He had been working with Makeistan for three years. Students, as well as ’non-traditional’ learners from outside of the university, are allowed to use the space and tools with freedom, towards the fulfillment of their own learning objectives. Having an engineering and computer science background, he is now pursuing his PhD in Instructional Technology and Learning from Utah State University.
