A reading of Psalm 22 (21 in some bibles). The first line of this Psalm is recited by Christ on the Cross.

This episode is on the Lebanon Saint, Saint Rafqa, we celebrate her feast day on March 23rd.

Saint Rafqa is the patron saint of sick people, those who suffer from bodily ills - those who suffer eye disease and pain particularly-, and those who have lost their parents. She is known as the “Flower of Lebanon”.

Venerable Fulton J. Sheen (soon to be Blessed!!) is one of my heroes. He lived his life for God, and understood people in a remarkable way. When he talks and writes about the human condition and suffering, it always sounds to me like he lived one, though I am not aware of him suffering through illness. He was a great man who had the knowledge of a great theologian, who could speak with the most lowly of us in a compassionate and knowing way. He, for me, is a great example of how we should live our lives for God and others.

This episode is on the Italian Saint, Saint Serapina, or Saint Fina, whose feast day we celebrate on March 12th. Saint Seraphina is patron of people with disabilities, the physically challenged, and those who suffer from chronic illness or pain.

Saint John lived from March 8, 1490 to 1550, was canonized in 1690, and his feast day is March 8th.

This episode, I read a poem by Saint John of the Cross, also known as John of Avila. This translation is from “The Collected Works of John of the Cross” from the Institute of Carmelite Studies. This poem is titled “the Spiritual Canticle” and has two speakers, the Bride (the Soul) and the Bridegroom (Christ).

This episode contains Pope Benedict XVI’s address to the sick at the Vatican Basilica on February 11, 2007. He reminds us of the wonderful presence of Mary to help us through our struggles.
