In this episode Masako talks about her transformation from a career working long hours in the legal industry to learning to listen to her body by slowing down to embrace her identity as an artist, ultimately becoming an award winning photographer. Masako talks about how her body was breaking down and she learned how to come home to herself through meditation. We talk about overcoming the inner critic during the creative process and exercising the play muscle to cultivate self-compassion when we make mistakes and allow ourselves to be seen.

Masako is a big believer in meditation as a maintenance practice as essential as mental hygiene of brushing your teeth each day. She educates others on how meditation can affect the body, thoughts, and emotions. She leads a Facebook group called Why Not Meditate and you can find her on IG masako_photography. She is also the host of the podcast: Why Not Meditate? where she discusses the benefits of meditation as a practice.
