This episode was a lot of fun to talk about fitness and how the mace is beneficial to overall shoulder, spine and core health. You'll also be surprised that this piece of equipment will work your legs through having to use the stabilizing muscles as that long handled cannonball swings around. Don't be intimidated by this implement and think injury is on the horizon with the Mace. There are so many people that ar willing to help and I have found Lori to be a huge help in my progression of swinging. She knows how to look at a video and give feedback for correcting the movement in order to perform at your maximum potential.
She has a huge passion for coaching others in the fitness world and has group classes she provides through Zoom. To get connected with her follow her on Instagram and join in on the live action. If your local to the SF Bay Area, CA.... feel free to message me and we can get together for some training and get you started with this wonderful tool. For anyone with limited Range of Motion in their shoulders, I would recommend adding this to your routines.

I know a lot of us read books to improve ourselves on a daily for work, life, or sport. Its great to find read these types of books and follow these famous authors and well known public figures, but it is very awesome to find someone like this in our local community. This interview was a great look into the career of Fernando Lopez and his profession of Mental Coaching.
I am always getting in my own head and it causes me to get stuck in a lot of things. Fernando gave some helpful hints and the biggest take away was Deliberate Practice. Even though the majority of work is towards military personnel, he is willing to help others break through some barriers in any sport. Sabre Academy is very lucky to have another great person on the mats that is willing to help. You can perform the motions all day physically , but you need a strong mind to move beyond your own limitations to progress and succeed

Do you get anxiety or even claustrophobic? How about cramps or even those nasty headaches due to stress or over exertion? I sat down with Miles Lukas , who earned his Blackbelt in Jiu Jitsu under Dave Camarillo (Guerilla Jiu Jitsu) and took steps necessary to become certified directly under Wim Hof for the power of breathing. Miles says it best in the podcast that we all know how to breathe , but just like the muscles we train at the gym to become stronger, you must do the same with your lungs. I have personally taken his zoom class due to the current situation that we face, but I look forward to going to one of his live seminars to experience both Breathing techniques and Ice Bath Submersion. Personally I believe all of us can benefit from this especially in the grappling world even if you do his beginner zoom class. Since this interview I wanted to do this exercise every morning to start my day to give Miles feedback later on.
I encourage any gym or martial arts academy to book him for a group session.

Sabre Tooth Tiger Series with Professor Bryant Pangelinan
Sabre Series - Episode #1
I wanted to do a series to get to know all of the great instructors and owners of the Sabre Jiu Jitsu Family. This is where my journey has started and continues to grow through amazing people on the mat. I remember the first time I made contact with him was when I asked if he wanted to rock one of my shirts from a clothing line I was trying to create called Dead to Sin. Not knowing me , he accepted the shirt and you can still see those on some of his gi's today. May not seem much to a random person, but that little contact at the time was a reason why I wanted to learn jiu jitsu under the Sabre name. Through that small interaction and all the many interactions on the mat for the past 3 years gave me a chance to observe a guy that puts others first. He has provided a sanctuary for many to build themselves up with confidence in the art of grappling. Even though Sabre is a Jiu Jitsu academy, Professor Bryant is very adamant that everyone learn the different styles of grappling that Sabre provides.(ie...Wrestling and Judo). On top of that he has built an amazing kids program that gets huge help from his Nephew, who you will find out about in the interview. I encourage anyone who is ever in the Concord, CA area, to stop by and see and feel the positive vibes that radiate in this academy and its family.

Professor Dom Hoskins has always been raised to press forward and speak up for what he believes in. The strength from his childhood and upbringing has made him such a solid human being. Talking with him gave me a sense of his compassion towards others from running his own academy, helping kids that are on the wrong path through a bay area Jiu Jitsu program, and wanting to bring more Jiu Jitsu to more inner city areas. If you know Dom, you know that he is a solid competitor with a hard work ethic on the mat and and a huge help referring in Fight 2 Win Promotion. But getting to know his background and what he is like off the mat will give you a better understanding of this highly motivated man. I hope you enjoy listening to this episode, because I know I enjoyed talking about everything that he loves.
