  • Episode 5 - Sex and Morality

    • What is the correlation between Sex, Morality, and Religion?
    • Why societies approach the role of sex in human culture from different perspectives?

    • We know that sexual instinct is the most animalistic of human instincts, so it's the most natural. In nature, there is only one instinct that equates in intensity with the sexual, that of the need for food.

Restrictions on sexual freedom through strict legislation have led many peoples to make prostitution a sacred practice. As a safety valve against the imposition of ethical rules on sexual instinct. The geographer Strabo (64 or 63 BC – c. AD 24) mentions that in Corinth at that time (of the emperor Augustus) 10,000 women practised the profession of a prostitute.

From the poet Sappho from Lesvos, to imperial Rome sexual freedom was being expressed publicly and embraced by the upper social classes.

This open embracement was erotism was characterized by Christianity as a moral degeneration and the sexual life of the people, as a carefree joy of life, came into focus. With Christianity, the glorification of virginity, and the moral austerity culminating in the Middle Ages.

      • Episode 3 - What is Love?

“Every heart sings a song, incomplete, until another heart whispers back. Those who wish to sing always find a song. At the touch of a lover, everyone becomes a poet.”

        ― Plato

        WHAT IS LOVE?

Everyone talks about love - every magazine and newspaper and every preacher is constantly preaching about love.

I love my country, I love the king, I love a book, I love nature, I love pleasure, I love my wife, I love God.

Is love an idea? If it is, then it can be cultivated, nurtured, surrounded by affection, imposed, changed at will.

We love someone, we sleep with someone, the exchange of feelings, companionship - is that what we call love?

Can love be divided into the sacred and the corrupt, the divine and the human, or is there simply only one love? Is love one thing and not many things?

Is love personal or impersonal? Ethical or immoral? If you love humanity, do you love each one individually? Is love an emotion? Is love a feeling? Is love pleasure and desire?

All these questions show that we have created a perception of what love is, norms about what love should be and what should not be, a social code that dictates us how to love and when to love.

Should love be limited to human perception?

      • Episode 2 - Political Thought

        Episode 2:

"He who is brave is free"

         Seneca

Politics is the expression of the human thought in relations to providing individuals and communities with the inherent necessities of safety and nourishment.

Freedom and Democracy are inseparable in the Western political thought and usually are perceived as a granted right.

        That is far from the truth;

The fear of not being able to exist in a safe and ordered society has led us to give away a part of our freedom for the exchange of security and nourishment.

How is fear influencing our decisions?

Is braveness the antidote to slavery?
