Both governors of these states went from a billion dollar surplus to over a billion dollar deficit. In both states tax breaks for the wealthy, cutting of social programs, slashing budgets for healthcare, public schools, public defenders, and agencies that investigate child molestation have ensued since Sam Brownback and Bobby Jindal took office. These policies would get the same results on a national level, yet these states mirror what most Republicans hold sacred.
