Over 99 per cent of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes banned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the November 2016 demonetisation have returned to the banking system according to none other than the Reserve Bank of India. The RBI spent nearly 8000 crores printing new notes. The former Finance Minister P Chidambaram tweeted that the country ended up losing Rs. 2.25 lakh crore worth of GDP, crores of jobs and over a hundred lives. The big question: was demonetization, despite the significant addition of more tax payers, essentially a flop?

In the past 24 hours, a recording of Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman losing her cool with Karnataka minister Mahesh during her visit to flooded areas in Karnataka has gone viral. They seem publicly fighting over the fact that he addressed a gathering first, she's heard saying that 'Central Minister follows the Minister in charge here... Unbelievable". A day later, it has become a major controversy - first with Deputy Chief Minister G Parmeshwara making it a centre vs state issue. Tonight on Left, Right and Centre, we ask, is the Defence Minister's anger justified? Is it a centre vs state tension spillover?

The centre responds to the Kerala government's "dog in the manger" jibe on the provision of relief to the state. The point being made is this - if you aren't giving us the Rs 20,000 crore that we seek to rebuild the state, then why are you denying others from providing us this help? This comes on a day when the UAE government - in what some would consider an about turn - says that there is nothing official about its providing Kerala Rs 700 crore in relief, something that had been widely reported. But the Kerala government insists that this offer was indeed made. In the meanwhile, the government has come out with a detailed explantion on how, in addition to Rs 600 crore that it has provided the state, there is another amount of Rs 562.45 crore which is already with the Kerala State Disaster Fund. On the show, we ask: Is the centre doing enough for the rehabilitation of flood affected regions of Kerala?

Rahul Gandhi, on his European tour, hits out, once again, at the centre. This time it is foreign policy. Mr Gandhi says Doklam was a failure of this government.
