Legacy Untethered™ VOICES
Sacred Care of Angela Shook
Legacy Untethered™ VOICES podcast interview featuring Angela Shook, end-of-life doula and instructor, companion animal doula, past president of the National End of Life Doula Alliance (NEDA), co-author of The Doula Tool Kit*, pet loss grief specialist, and my mentor.
Angela shares how her experience as a hospice volunteer and caring for her grandfather during his final weeks inspired her to pursue this meaningful work, her evolution from human end-of-life care to companion animal doula work, and the importance of validating grief and creating legacy projects and other meaningful memorials. The discussion also touches on the growing awareness and acceptance of end-of-life doulas in society, with Angela noting how the field has evolved from having 180 members in NEDA to now thousands, and how COVID-19 brought more attention to death and dying.
Angela emphasizes that while the work can be challenging, anyone with the heart for it can succeed.
