Legalism is the arrogant pretension of fulfilling God’s plan through your human ability. Legalism and grace are mutually exclusive. Legalism manipulates, controls, judges you, and tries to force you to live a certain way. “Don’t judge lest you be judged” (Matt 7:1). God has provided you with problem-solving devices. When you try to add to them, you foul them up. Rely on God’s grace. When you expose legalism for what it is, then the legalistic person loses his ability to manipulate people. What about you? Do you have enough freedom in Christ to live your life?
