The Hotel Galvez and Spa

   September 1900, a Category 4 hurricane with winds in excess of

130 mph slams into Galveston, killing more than 6,000 people. Bodies had to be buried at sea...often times only to return awash along the shore. In 1911, a hotel was built on the seawall by local businessmen to help hoist Galveston out of the shallows. The Hotel Galvez has had many a prominent guest, and many have yet to check out.
