On this week’s Legion of Leia podcast, myself and my co-host Anastasia Washington welcome director America Young and actors Talia Talbin and John Keating from the film The Concessionaires Must Die! Hey, you know who else is in this film? Stan Lee! Yes, THAT Stan Lee! Though we didn’t get to it on the podcast, America told me that Stan was delighted to say that this was his first real acting role! (Yes, he has cameos, but still!) The Concessionaires Must Die! is currently out on , and you can find out where to watch by hitting their website, CMDtheMovie.net. In the film, a group of concessionaires try to save their movie theater from the big chain that opens across the street! Typecast’s Mac Beauvais joins the Legion of Leia podcast to chat about her web series, monsters and more!

On this week’s Legion of Leia podcast, my co-host Anastasia Washington and myself welcome writer/actress Mac Beauvais! Mac is known for Hit Girl and The Gloaming, and she’s back working on a new project called Typecast! This web series has one of my favorite premises ever. In Typecast, we check out the lives of three actors who are dealing with some typecasting with a twist. A monsterous one. Mac is working on an IndieGoGo campaign, which you can check out here. Here’s the official info:

From writer/comedian, Ben Paddon (PortsCenter, Boomer’s Day Off), writer/actress, Mac Beauvais (Hit Girl, The Gloaming), and featuring director Justin Zagri (Severus Snape and the Marauders) comes a comedy of horrors about just how truly monstrous Hollywood can be.

Hollywood! Land of dreams, of opportunity and of…okay, we all know that’s BS.

This comedy follows a trio of actors who are getting regular paying work, but who feel trapped by the roles they keep getting cast in. Actors stuck in an endless parade of sci-fi shlock and horror films. And I guess maybe we should mention that they’re actually monsters.

Not actors in makeup, not computer-generated trickery, but real monsters. Like, for real real…this is Typecast.

On this week’s Legion of Leia podcast, myself and my co-host Anastasia Washington welcome comedian and voiceover artist Andrew Rancho! Andrew is working on a Kickstarter for his animation screening party! It’s called Let’s Watch Messed Up Cartoons! You can check out the Kickstarter here, and I’ve embeded the intro video below.

Here’s the info on the campaign, which is pretty awesome! “Kickstarting a party where we watch funny, f—ed up cartoons from original, underground artists. Screening at a cool animation studio. Come join! I’m Andrew Racho! I make cartoons for a living. I also make a weird cartoon series called Convenience Store Diet. Last year I raised $1000 for an awesome Convenience Store Diet screening party! We watched 15 of my cartoons, premiered my short, “I Think My Healthcare Might Suck,” and even had a bouncy castle! We all had a blast, thanks to everyone who came, helped, and made that a fun night!

This year, I’m doing it again! But… with a little something extra…

Legion of Leia Podcast S2 Ep.7: Kaitlyn Booth, Solo: A Star Wars Story Trailer and More!

On this week’s Legion of Leia podcast, season 2, episode 7, myself and Anastasia Washington are joined by the amazing Kaitlyn Booth, head film writer at Bleeding Cool and co-host of The Nerd Dome podcast! This week we break down the new trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, which seems to have changed people’s minds about whether or not they’re excited for the upcoming film. It’s getting close, opening in theaters on May 25. You know we want to hear from you on that one?

We also talk about the new trailer for Fabled, and what we expect when we see depictions of mental illness. Then we take on the very awesome Westworld video that I’m just going to embed below. In honor of Holly’s appearance this week, live long and prosper!

On this week’s Legion of Leia podcast, myself and co-host Anastasia Washington welcome Austin Basis (Beauty and the Beast, Supernatural, Curb Your Enthusiasm)! Austin is Kickstarting a pretty amazing project right now and I’m so psyched for you guys to check it out! The project is called The KINETIX, a comic book series about an amazing group of high school kids who are superheroes by night. All of these kids have disabilities and those disabilities actually create their superpowers! You can check out the Kickstarter here, and you can watch the promo video below.

Austin was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes as a kid and works closely with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) as a celebrity ambassador to raise money and awareness for diabetes research. He’s also a super cool guy!

The KINETIX is a comic book series about a remarkable group of high school kids with disabilities, who are students by day and a team of superheroes by night. These “disabilities” are the very source from which their superpowers emerge. If you have what the world sees as a “disability”, we believe you innately have a greater potential energy than those that don’t have one. You carry that energy with you at all times and have the power to turn it into kinetic energy, and use it for good. The KINETIX isn’t an after-school special. These are flawed, three-dimensional characters with a full range of emotions. But they don’t get bitter- they make the world better!
