PSTV - The Netflix of Positive Content

PSTV was created to give people a platform, where they can stay informed on the world without the constant negative media. After receiving a positive text from his mum, Karl, the founder of PSTV, had a moment of clarity that started this movement. A simple text message that shared a positive quote.

How little positive news are we exposed to during our days? More importantly, How much negative media are we exposed to? According to their research over 90% of media consumed is negative. With so much focus on health and nutrition what about the nutrition of the mind?

Motivational Interviewing

My interview with Dr Stan Steindl, discussing Motivational interviewing. Not sure what that entails, me neither however after chatting with Stan I am much clear on what it all means. Stan outlines a simple process that is clear to understand and not only beneficial in helping others with behavioural change but perhaps also ourselves. I thoroughly enjoyed the insights, perspectives and techniques that were shared.

Stan is a Clinical Psychologist and Director at Psychology Consultants Pty Ltd, and an Adjunct Associate Professor at University of Queensland School of Psychology. He is co-director of the UQ Compassionate Mind Research Group. He has over 20 years experience as a therapist, supervisor and trainer, including motivational interviewing training since 2007. His research interests are in the areas of motivation and compassion, and the role of cultivating a compassionate motivation in the context of trauma, shame, self-criticism and clinical disorders, and promoting psychological wellbeing.

Never Enough

In this episode, I chat with Judy Grisel about her experience and work on addiction. It's a remarkable discussion in which Judy reveals the unfortunate bottom line of all regular drug use: there is no such thing as a free lunch. A current focus of her laboratory is to understand the role of endogenous opiate neurotransmission in different trajectories of alcohol abuse in men and women. Professor Grisel recently published Never Enough: The Neuroscience and Experience of Addiction, a New York Times bestseller.
