A conversation with Heba Aly
Guest: Heba Aly
Host: Frédéric Ramel
Join us for a conversation with Heba Aly, the Director of the Article 109 Coalition, to discuss the reform of UN multilateralism, and address questions such as: What is the origin of the campaign? What is its focus (in relation to the second charter project)? Who supports it (particularly which countries), and what are the next steps?
Heba Aly is a journalist by training and spent a decade reporting from conflict zones before becoming CEO of The New Humanitarian. During her eight years as CEO, she positioned what was originally a niche UN project as the world’s leading source for humanitarian crises and aid policy. As the Coalition’s Director, Heba shapes the Coalition’s vision and strategy, sets the team’s goals and priorities, positions and represents the Coalition externally, and ensures its sustainability. She is one of the handful of people who got the Coalition off the ground in its early days, dating back to its informal launch in May 2024.
An interview conducted by Frédéric Ramel, Professeur des Universités at Sciences Po Paris, Researcher at the Center for International Studies (CERI), and coordinator of the GRAM.
