Almost done isn't done — and it's costing you more time, energy, and money than you think. In this first episode of a short series on the habits that quietly run your business, I get into finishing jobs completely.
The whole idea comes down to one line: you have to define what "done" looks like before you start. I tell the story of the receipt scanner I gave my dad (and the desk drawer still stuffed with receipts), why "I did the dishes" isn't the same as a clean kitchen, and how to spot the natural finish line on everything from a client meeting to a networking event to your morning coffee. Miss that finish line and the task doesn't disappear — it just sits in your head as an open loop, draining energy you need elsewhere.
Your challenge this week: pick one task you'd normally leave half-done, decide what completely finished looks like before you touch it, and actually get there. Next week: "Do It Now."

In January, I lost the consulting income I'd been counting on. I had two choices: walk away from a year of hard-won learning, or build something with it.
This is the honest origin story of Gatherd — the daily operating system I built with AI to put everything I was trying to track in one place. Not because I had it all figured out (I was figuring it out as I go), but because I was desperate enough to stop juggling a dozen apps, notebooks, and open tabs and finally build the one thing I actually needed.
I'll walk you through what pushed me to start, what Gatherd actually does, and the moment a friend — who quietly lost 20 pounds using an early version — made me realize this wasn't just for me.
If you've ever felt like you're running your business and your life in fragments, this one's for you.

Do you only think you have a "team" if you have employees?
In this episode, I explore the idea that every small business owner has a support network, a "team," even if it's not a formal staff. I will share insights on how to identify these key people—mentors, family, friends, or even supportive customers—and offer practical, heartfelt ways to express appreciation for their contributions. My goal is to help small business owners feel less alone and strengthen those crucial relationships, ultimately boosting morale and sustaining their success.
