Improper reading instruction is a systemic problem within our education system. Districts and teacher preparation programs have ignored evidence based studies on reading instruction because changes in policy and instructional techniques require a huge investment. The majority of our nations black children cannot read on a level required to succeed as an adult. That’s worth investment.
