If my sons ever ask me, "Dad, how should I handle pain?" I hope this conversation is one of the first places they turn.
Pain is part of every man's life.
You'll lose people you love. You'll face failure. You'll experience heartbreak, uncertainty, physical pain, and seasons where life feels heavier than you ever imagined.
The question isn't if you'll experience pain.
It's what you'll do with it.
In this episode, my friend John Hemberger and I talk about what it means to carry pain with wisdom instead of letting it define you. We explore when to carry burdens quietly, when to ask for help, why numbing pain often creates even more suffering, and how some of life's hardest seasons can become the very things that shape your character.
This isn't a conversation about pretending to be tough.
It's about becoming the kind of man who lets pain produce compassion, resilience, wisdom, and strength.
In this episode we discuss:
• Why every man carries pain
• The difference between hiding, sharing, and carrying pain
• When asking for help is a sign of wisdom—not weakness
• Why numbing pain can keep you from growing
• How adversity can build character and resilience
• Lessons from fatherhood, business, health, and life's hardest seasons
• The kind of strength I hope my sons develop
If you're a father, husband, entrepreneur, or simply a man trying to navigate life's challenges, I hope this conversation reminds you that strength isn't found in avoiding pain—it's found in learning how to carry it well.
And boys, if you're watching this years from now...
I hope life has been kind to you.
But when it isn't, I hope this lesson helps you become the man God created you to be.
Love you both.

Winning feels good, but the greatest lessons in my life didn't come from winning—they came from losing.
In this episode, my friend Mike and I talk about why I actually want my sons to experience failure. We discuss how losses shape character, why struggle is necessary for growth, and how the things that don't seem to be working are often quietly working on us.
If my boys ever ask me, "Dad, why would you let me fail?" I hope this conversation helps them understand that many of life's greatest victories are built on the foundation of loss.

For a long time, I thought caring too much was a weakness.
Now I believe it's often a clue.
A clue to who God created us to be and who He created us to serve.
The problem is that caring makes us vulnerable. You can be misunderstood, rejected, and hurt. That's why many people choose not to care—it's safer.
But I've found that the things worth caring about are often the things worth suffering for.
In this episode, I sit down with my longtime friend James to talk about the foundations of caring, the challenges that come with it, and the rewards on the other side.
If my boys ever ask me, "Dad, why should I care?" I hope this conversation helps answer that question.
Love you guys.

To my sons Rory and Lucas — this episode is really a letter to you boys. One day you may look back at these soccer decisions and think I was wise… or completely clueless. But I hope you’ll always know they came from love, thought, prayer, and a deep desire to help you become fully yourselves — not just better athletes.
In this conversation with Coach Hayden Prasad, we talk about youth sports, burnout, joy, pressure, creativity, character, and what actually helps kids thrive long term. More than anything, I hope this reminds you that I never cared most about trophies or status — I cared about our time together, your love for the game, and the men you’re becoming.

To Lucas & Rory,
If you’re watching this someday at a point in your life where you feel lost… I want you to know something first:
That feeling is more normal than you think.
For a long time, I thought success meant growth, numbers, momentum, achievement, and constantly becoming “more.” But somewhere along the way, I slowly lost from myself.
This episode is really about finding your way back.
Not becoming somebody new…
but becoming more of who you are already and what God wanted you to be.
In this episode we talk about:
• Why getting lost is a good thing and also the prerequisite
• Why subtraction is more important than adding things life
• How to know when you’re moving in the right direction in life
I hope this podcast serves you guys someday.
And if you ever reach a season where you don’t know what to do next… I hope this episode helps you two. Remember this.
You’re not behind.
You’re not broken.
You're exactly where you need to be.
Slow down.
Pray.
And listen.
Love Dad.
