Jesus wants us to be free. Jesus wants us to know the Truth. Satan wants to keep us blinded to the truth of freedom through Christ. We all have friends or relatives that, no matter how the Gospel is presented to them, just don’t seem to understand what’s being said. Pastor Mark will teach about the role of the Holy Spirit in opening our eyes to the reality of Jesus and salvation. The book of Luke indicates that Jesus was in the habit of being in synagogue every Sabbath. If we desire to follow Jesus’ example, it’s clear that we need to attend church regularly. Pastor Mark will be teaching about why church attendance is important, as well as continuing to show what Jesus, our example, did in living His life. He’ll also be covering what the Good News of the Gospel is and how it relates to us.

We’ll learn how to be reliant upon the Holy Spirit to lead and control our lives, and allow the Spirit to give us the strength and courage needed to overcome the desires of the flesh. Then, we’ll see God change lives as we touch people in His power!

The best news is that living the Spirit-filled life is possible for the likes of you and me, if we’re willing to do it the same way Jesus did!

Since Jesus couldn’t fulfill the role He had come to do using only human strength and wisdom, it was critical that He rely on the Holy Spirit to supply what He, Jesus, lacked. Pastor Mark will remind us that although we have access to the same Holy Spirit baptism and control, we can’t do what Jesus did because we leak. Our taking back control from the Holy Spirit keeps us from perfectly following the will of God, so we need to constantly be refilled with the Holy Spirit.

You know, it’s pretty natural for people to seek attention. As infants we are the center of attention, and we try to perpetuate that as long as possible. If you reflect on the life and words of Jesus, you will see that He was always trying to deflect attention from Himself, always crediting God the Father as the source of His power and the impetus behind the miracles He performed. Pastor Mark will be teaching us, using the example of Jesus, how to overcome temptation. He will be stressing the importance of knowing what God’s word actually says, and having the Word deep inside us so we can resist the devil as well as our own sin nature.
