Every lasting change starts by changing your thought pattern. You can't change the kind of fruit a tree produces without changing the roots!

Death came through sin and the cross has dealt with EVERYTHING related with sin including death. Though eventually physical death will be dealt with, every influence of spiritual death has been dealt with which includes sickness, poverty and our broken fellowship with God.
As a believer, you have the right to resist every influence of death in your life
