In episode 8 of the Let Me Clear My Throat Podcast, we interview our friend Rahul Vanjani, M.D. He's currently Assistant Professor of Medicine, Clinician Educator at Brown, as well as a primary care physician. Rahul Vanjani previously worked in two different medical systems as a physician - San Quentin Prison and Rikers Island. While our goal was to discuss the Brown Guy's Guide to surviving prison (including Naitik's fear of not getting a vegetarian meal), Rahul intelligently brought the discussion to the more substantive issues of incarceration and health. Overall, it was a fascinating issue to be discussed from a perspective often not heard in the media. In Episode 7, Naitik and Sachin interview an expert about the affordable housing crisis in the US. We brought in Eli Moore, Program Manager, California Community Partnerships, at the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society at UC Berkeley. During the interview, we talked to Eli about the affordable housing crisis in the US. We also dug into the issues facing his community in Richmond, California, where he has intimate knowledge about local politics and policy advocacy for communities struggling to afford housing. With the Bay Area experiencing tremendous growth in the housing market, Eli sheds light on the perils of unequal growth in communities and how those sympathetic to the values of a more inclusive society can take action on a local level to affect change.

The topic of sexism in the tech industry dominated the news cycle after a Google employee (now ex) wrote a controversial memo about diversity practices at the company and women in the industry. Although we are behind on the news cycle on this one, we are excited to interview two friends that work in tech, Jill and Mary. They share their thoughts on the memo, give insight into obstacles faced in their own careers and just generally dropped some knowledge on Naitik and Sachin.

Akbari, Program Manager for the Institute for War and Peace Reporting where he conducts research on Iranian domestic politics, U.S. foreign policy towards Iran, Shia politics, political transition, and democracy. Reza, an Iranian-American, shares his immigration journey which took him from Tehran to Buffalo, NY at the age of 16. Among the topics covered with Reza include the impact of the travel ban, aka Muslim ban, on his family, trials and tribulations of legal immigration, how the current political environment will evolve and what we can potentially do to navigate it.

India is Hard? In episode 3, we interview Jessi Heger, a friend of the podcast who is currently living in New Delhi, India.
