Brown and Coconut is a sister-owned and operated skin care company with a focus on plant-based formulas with minimal ingredients. They obsess over every single ingredient that is added to thier products, avoiding irritants and toxicants, and hone in on unique blends of botanicals and clays that are especially effective and truly feel incredible to use. They create products that are luxurious, simple, highly effective and can be added to any skin care routine.

Letisha walks listeners through her story from starting out together with her sister with a lifestyle blog while in Boston to launching Brown and Coconut. She talks about running a business as sisters and what that has looked like and also talks about the Boston scene and how they worked to showcase their brand and products at pop ups or markets. Letisha gives suggestions for someone just starting and trying to get their products into customer’s hands and also walks through some of the first steps they took when they decided to launch the brand. Letisha talks specifically about struggling with acne and how that experience went into their products as well as how they worked to identify ingredients that they found effective in healing skin. She dives into how at Brown and Coconut they craft entirely unique formulas and talks about what that process look like as well as what she and her sister had to learn along the way vs. what they knew and how they worked to educate themselves as they went through the process. Letisha talks about what was one of the most fun parts of the process and the most difficult. She also talks about their branding and packaging and what advice she would give herself when she was just starting.
