Black Graduation is a pre-commencement graduation celebration. It was initially started on college campuses to create a more intimate, cultural, and personal graduation experience for Black graduates. Black graduation connects the Black community and allows students and families to take pride in their accomplishments, while also celebrating the strength, beauty, and resilience of their Blackness. Many colleges today have Black, Latino, Asian/Pacific Islander graduations alongside regular school graduation to celebrate and acknowledge the culture and accomplishments of students from diverse cultures.

Happy Veterans Day!

Let’s Chew The Gum is back from hiatus with an extra special deep dive into the minds of Black veterans and their attitudes and beliefs on a variety of topics. Can you say controversy?

This show is unlike any other and it was inspired by a single statement likely unheard of  in Black communities specifically and communities of color as a whole. That statement is, “Young men of color should choose the military.”

Join me and my guest, military veteran and critically acclaimed Hollywood film veteran, Foster Corder, as we discuss unique and extensive experience as U.S. military veterans.

Topics include:

If you have been keeping up with the show, you know that I have spent the last couple of months writng, directing and rehearsing for my new play, Journey (stay tuned for the upcoming episode on that).

During that time I joined with a colleague podcaster, Erin Danielle on her podcast, Erin on Air. She interviewed me on a variety of social issues, including book banning in Florida, exploring unexamined assumptions and more. Tune in and let me know your thoughts.
