Let's Get Pucked Up

The podcast debuts a new rap theme, and then Scott "The Prowler" Dowler, John "Ay yay yay" Coughlin, and your host, Robin "R-$" Kooymans, get into comparing this past season's Red Wings to historically inept teams in an attempt to figure out which team deserves the title of "Worst NHL Team Ever." Additionally, Scott, John, and Robin get truly audacious in prognosticating who will win the Stanley Cup for the next five seasons. Things are finished off with a song from John and an a capella rap from Robin.

John Coughlin and Scott Dowler join host, Robin Kooymans, over Skype for Take 4 in an arduous but fruitful recording process. We talk about how we're keeping sane during these trying times, what the NHL should do if the season is indeed able to continue at some point, and who we should give out major NHL awards to should the regular season be done.

Stephane Poitras enters legendary guest status as he joins your host, Robin Kooymans, once again and dives into a lengthy discussion on the David Ayres situation and how depressing it is in Leafs-land, the trade deadline's winners and losers in a methodical trade-by-trade analysis, and who are now our picks team-wise to emerge from each division come playoff time. We even go as far as to give our bold predictions on who are our favourites at this time to win the "as-seen-in-Yellowkife-two-weeks-ago" Stanley Cup. Spoiler alert: We do not pick the Leafs.

Your host, Robin Kooymans, and frequent guest, Stephane Poitras, catch up on a ton of hockey news since the Battle of 'Berta. They start with a recap of being in Yellowknife for Hockey Day in Canada, then move on to talking about the enjoyably ridiculous Washington Capitals warm-up routine, then hit a bit of a downer discussing Biznasty/Carcillo and their tweetfest along with Zack Kassian's 2nd suspension of the season. Things stay sour with Robin reading an ever mounting injury list to Stephane at which point the guys decide to look on the positive side of things and turn proverbial lemons into lemonade in discussing how teams can make up for injuries with potential trades. They then discuss recent trades and grades for the teams involved, and finish up with a good ol' coach firing (poor Boudreau) and Leon Draisaitl's ever-growing case for the Hart.

Your host, Robin Kooymans, is joined by recurring guests Scott "The Prowler" Dowler, and Stephane "The Man" Poitras to talk about Round One of the Battle of Alberta and what we can expect for Round 2 (we recorded just before puck drop of round two and during a bit of the first period), the craziness that is the top of the Pacific Division standings currently, Gritty punching a kid, the crappiness of the All-Star Game, and Ovi's assault on the goal scoring record books. Things start to get a little sloppy at the tail end of the podcast when The Chardonnay Boys show up to dispense some wisdom as well as some chardonnay.

Andrew "Andrewlius Pennerific/Pennzoil/Punner/Mercedes Pennz/Penn15" Penner joins host, Robin "former lead singer of Johnny and the Kickass" Kooymans, to discuss World Juniors, the recent slew of coach and GM firings in the NHL, the All-Star Game, a bunch of Leafs stuff, the goonery of Matthew Tkachuk, the futility of the Habs, and favourite things about Toronto. As we all know Toronto is the centre of the hockey universe, so it is our God given right to burden you, the listener, with all this 6ix chat.

Scott Dowler joins host, Robin Kooymans, to discuss the events of the World Juniors to this point, our mid-season NHL Awards favourites, and a few more major issues pertaining to hockey's great reckoning to round out the 2019 calendar year. We try the best we can to have a positive outlook for hockey culture going into 2020.

Scott "the Growler" Dowler joins your host, Robin "R-Money" Kooymans to drink a lot of beer and discuss escalating hockey topics (numerically speaking) pertaining to the year 2019 in an episode we lovingly call the 12 Beers of Christmas. We review an eventful year in hockey by talking about Don Cherry, Andrei Svechnikov, the poor poor Sens, Canadian teams' playoff prospects, fired coaches, Taylor Hall, Bryan Rust, Ovi's O-Fest, 100 point players, Sergei Bobrovsky's terrible contract, Brent Burns, and Maple Leafs' backups.
