Dave & Christopher continue their series of reviews of award-winning (and almost award-winning) movies and welcome special guest and longtime friend, Bob Thornson, who goes all the way back to the 1980s General Cinema days!
Dave, Christopher and Bob review the 1994 drama, "The Shawshank Redemption" (starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman and directed by Frank Darabont) based on the Stephen King short story, "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption"
The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards but in a great miscarriage of justice did not win in any category (Best Picture - Niki Marvin, Best Actor - Morgan Freeman, Best Adapted Screenplay - Frank Darabont, Best Cinematography - Roger Deakins, Best Film Editing - Richard Francis-Bruce, Best Sound and Best Original Score - Thomas Newman) It was also nominated for 2 Golden Globes and 2 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The film, while not garnering any awards, did receive new life once it was released on home video (it was the most rented video of 1995) and became a cult classic beloved by many cinephiles
