What word has God given you? (either for the year or otherwise)

• The purpose of the Word of God to us personally can be to 
  • Inform 
  • Instruct
  • Direct
  • Equip
  • Prepare
  • Encourage
  • Comfort
  • and more!
• When God gives you a word, initially you will receive the instruction or comfort it entails, and sometimes that is the whole purpose, but other times—and more often than not, that word is a tool or a weapon God has given you for what is to come. 
• So when things happen (or sometimes it is that things AREN’T HAPPENING), you go back to that word, and you repeat it, rehearse it, and BELIEVE IT! You CONTEND WITH IT for the outcome God promised, and you desire!
• One of my favorite verses is in Acts 27:25 NLT So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said
• So what has God said to you? About your year or about your purpose and calling?
• Whatever He has spoken is what you should believe, not what you see or hear or feel…but what HE SAID! 
• Ephesians 6:17 says: And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
• So we use the Word of God as our weapon–our sword, and we contend for it in our lives.

• Grace is what you need!
  • Acts 20:32 TPT “And so now, I entrust you into God’s hands and the message of his grace, which is all that you need to become strong. All of God’s blessings are imparted through the message of his grace, which he provides as the spiritual inheritance given to all of his holy ones.
  • Romans 5:17 
    • NKJV - For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)
    • AMPC - For if because of one man's trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God's] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
  • 2 Corinthians 9:8 AMPC  And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].
• What is grace?
  • Grace is God’s unmerited favor
  • Grace is God’s empowerment
    • 2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT: Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
  • Grace is what makes the difference
• Zechariah 4:6-7 NKJV So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts. ‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!” ’ ”

Story of Jesus' birth and first few years:

• Matthew 1:18-2:23
  • All throughout these verses, we see how God was guiding and orchestrating all the events surrounding the life of Jesus. 
  • There are between 3 and 400 prophecies about Jesus in the Old Testament, and everyone of them was fulfilled!
  • Isaiah 46:8-11 ESV: Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’ calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it.
  • Proverbs 21:30 ESV: No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel can prevail against the Lord.
  • Once, when I was thinking about how Jesus’ birth and life were orchestrated for all that to happen, the Holy Spirit told me that He was just as mindful of my life and was orchestrating all the details for me, too!
• Psalm 138:8 
  • NKJV: The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.
  • NLT: The LORD will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me.
• He knows where you are.
  • Psalm 37:23 NLT: The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
  • Proverbs 16:9 NKJV: A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.
• Proverbs 19:21 NLT: You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail.
• Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV: Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Philippians 1:6 NIV: Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
