Let's Take Five

Austin and Eric are doing this podcast for only one reason. Revenge. Oh and to discuss Cate Blanchett as the pregnant reporter in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. So two things. This is a performance unlike anything they've covered so far and it was a delight to see her get to be in a comedy. Especially a very particular comedy made by Wes Anderson.

Cate Blanchett's Five

1) Elizabeth

2) The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

3) The Aviator

4) The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

5) Carol

Austin and Eric are back to discuss a film they've both seen a million times. So it was only right to bring in someone who has seen it even more than them: Sarah Staudt from The Immortals! Together they look at Cate Blanchett who plays Galadriel for only a few minutes but is one of the few who steal the show. They look at how she embraced Tolkien's writing and showed a level of regal authority that is much different than Elizabeth.

Austin and Eric are traveling back to England just before its Golden Age as they view the rise of Elizabeth I. Their new Five is to delve into the work of Cate Blanchett and there's no better place to start than her break-out film as the Virgin Queen. They discuss the politically confusing plotline, the absurd amount of great actors that Blanchett upstages and the fact that Netflix really should have subtitles for those French scenes. Get excited!
