Borrowing to fund a budget isn’t new in the world. Governments borrow all the time. However, the reasons for these borrowings, how they’ll be
repaid and their effects on the population are critical questions citizens
ask. The recent 15 billion Naira loan by the Plateau State Government, although has been accepted as a necessity by certain people, has raised some fundamental questions, some of which Abigail Siman and Emeka Umesi will be seeking answers to. On the show, to further clarify certain grey areas, Mr. Peter Lamba Bot, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Planning, will be answering some of your questions about the loan. Are you in support of government borrowing to pay salaries?Given the peculiarity of the situation, do you support the early borrowing by the new administration, given the debt profile of the state already?
