The Lifetime series Surviving R.Kelly has so many people in an uproar, from celebrities to the person next store. I can’t for the life of me figure out why now, the celebrities that are speaking out about this have know for over a decade, why not join together and #muterkelly then? We as a community have heard these allegations over a decade ago, on several occasions why not mute him then? Let’s look at this on a larger scale, I see a community of broken people, R. Kelly isn’t the only celebrity that used his status to manipulate and abuse young people. Celebrities aren’t the only ones, this happens everyday in the urban communities, let’s start there, let’s stop our little sisters from dating grown men because of the material things they can gain, let’s stop our brothers from dating young girls because they’re easily manipulated. Let’s stop judging and throwing stones but band together to begin healing and finding solutions...

It’s not always easy but it’s well worth it!
