Welcome to this week’s episode of the StephUp Podcast! Thank you for your support and for coming back each week to listen. This episode features special guest, Emily Thiroux Threatt.  Emily is a speaker, retired English professor and author of “Loving and Living Your Way Through Grief”. As someone who was twice widowed, she found writing down her thoughts and feelings was a healing process. In order to help one of her close friends deal with the loss of her husband, Emily’s writings to her ended up becoming her book!  Emily explains that grief comes from more than just the loss of a loved one. We can experience grief in many different ways like losing a job or a relationship or living through a pandemic. Saying something positive to someone about the loss they are going through is a much nicer way than saying, “I’m sorry for your loss.”  “Living and Loving Your Way Through Grief” is a book for everyone, not just those dealing with grief. Forgiving ourselves is a huge part in moving forward in life. In the book, Emily speaks about how important self-care is, especially when you go through the tough times.   Emily believes in finding joy in the pain. Gratitude is a huge part of her life and she finds writing down the things she is grateful for helps in the journey.

"You will come to an understanding that 'grief' doesn't heal. If you have been trying to heal your grief, try instead to heal your feelings about grief. Grief doesn't heal just like your reason for grieving doesn't miraculously go away, but you can feel better. Start taking responsibility for your joy, for living your best life."    - "Loving and Living Your Way Through Grief".  Follow Emily on her website, Facebook, LinkedIn,  Twitter and Instagram.  Follow StephUp Podcast on Instagram,  Twitter, her podcast website, and the website for her children's book, "What Should Dragon Do?" at  www.stephanieannwebb.com.  Support the podcast: Buy Me A Coffee   Hosted on Acast.
