Escaping Hitler, Dahlia's great grandparents landed in Mexico from Eastern Europe. From there, her parents moved to Canada where Dahlia was born. When you see Dahlia, you might think you see just another white woman, but this Jewish woman has deep roots in Mexico. She learned Spanish before English and her home girl comfort foods are burritos, tortillas, tacos and refried beans. Dahlia knows who she is, she is more than just another white woman.

Is race important? Maybe, but more than race, we are very much reflections of our cultural upbringing.
