Buffalo Soldiers. My Winslow ancestor, my mom's dad Cedric Dillard Winslow served in the 10th calvary at Fort Huachuca 1917-1920. He fought in the August 1918 battle of Ambos Nogales, - keeping the US border "safe" from "foreign" troops. He and his Buffalo Soldier comrades then participated in the building of the first permanent border fence separating two towns anywhere on the U.S.-Mexico border.

My dad, Seihong David Wong born as the eldest son in a prosperous Chinese household. Number one son, his siblings called him. At 10 his Chinese dad was deported. He, his 4 siblings and his black/native american Irish mother moved into her brothers shotgun home with her brothers family of six children. They settled into life in the black segregated neighborhoods of Cleveland ohio. His life changed, forever.
