HOW CAN WHITE PEOPLE UNLEARN RACISM & WHITE SUPREMACY BELIEFS?
Unlearning racism requires reaching both the “head” and the “heart” of white Americans.
White Americans need to learn the actual, accurate historical facts of our nation.
At the same time, white Americans need to identify with and feel human kinship with Americans of color.
Cognitive learning – learn the facts of what really happened as our nation was founded and how the structures of white supremacy continue today.
Emotional learning – begin to see how different it is to be a person of color living in the US then a white person and how unfair those differences in advantages/unearned privileges are.
