Let's Talk BL

If you've ever wondered how a BL goes from novel to screen, this week we're diving headfirst into what it takes to make a series with World Y Entertainment Executive Producers Junior and Bon. Two of the people behind one of the best series of the year (You're My Sky), we talk casting, workshops, product placement, production in the age of COVID-19 and more. And yes, we get some super fun behind-the-scenes stories that include monkeys, banana boats, and fireworks.

If you haven't heard the OSTs (composed by Bon himself!), check them out here:

To absolutely no one's surprise, we're still on that You're My Sky agenda. The series wrapped up last week, but we still have so much to say about Thorn & Fah, Saen & Aii, and of course Dome & Vee. Things get even more chaotic this week because our friends Kris & Porsche (*the* Dome & Vee) make their comeback appearance on LTBL for some shenanigans and to share their thoughts about the show. We talk about why this is the first and only series that could make a sports-forward concept work, whether or not Dome is a villain, and all of the script's snappiest one-liners.

What can we say - if sugar-coated-sugar were personified, it would be Chap & Green. The very dapper stars of The Tuxedo (catch it airing now on GaGaOOLala) join us this week to school us in Thai, marathons, and making friends with cats. It's the perfect fluffy pick-me-up that ends with a game of This or That which took three takes to get right because no one could stop laughing. The wonderful Kat is back on translations, too!

This week on Series Sunday we're heading into the mountains for some light murder and intrigue with Manner of Death. We all know it as some of Max and Tul's best work, but the side characters really shine in this one. Gang babies, pistol whipping proposals, and giant crocodile heads - this show has everything.

We're going a little deeper this week with one of the most beautiful Taiwanese films we've ever seen. We love a good throwback and Your Name Engraved Herein does not disappoint. There's a lot to unpack here - from that shower scene to Jia Han's mom not believing in love. Plus, there's a Chris Wu appearance.

The big question: is it BL?
