Let's Talk BL

One-half Shinwoo, one-half Daon, one hundred percent Namgoong. This week we're debating the finer points of South Korea's most groundbreaking BL. The character arcs are flawless and the k-drama tropes are exquisite. Park Seo Joon, Boys Over Flowers & Light On Me. Trust us when we tell you they're all connected.

We first fell in love with Gameplay as the adorably shy chef Tops in Ingredients, and then he became our favorite vengeful ghost in He She It. Today he's talking all things BL, becoming a real-life chef-turned-actor (he graduated from a Le Cordon Bleu school!), and losing his phone daily. Plus, he drops some super exclusive info about an upcoming project and shares what it's like to play a completely new character on the currently airing series Bite Me (available now on Viki).

We're getting ghosted with Jeff Satur and Gameplay on this week's episode of Series Sunday. He She It - one of the best and first horror BLs - is short but wildly impactful from start to finish. We're talking twisted Christmas Carnivals, the spiciest scenes you weren't expecting, and our never ending quest to get justice for Ghost Game.

Evan Luo barged into our hearts as the ever-supportive (and endlessly mischievous) Bing Wei and became a fan-favorite after word got out that he took part in writing WeiYu fanfic. Today he's talking all things We Best Love including the infamous fanfic, the suits, and the loves. Plus, we dig into BL as a subculture and end with some highly chaotic Taiwanese food talk.

p.s. Let's Talk BL is now OFFICIALLY Evan Luo approved - which is way better than a blue checkmark if you ask us.

We're back on that War agenda with The Best Story. We're talking every single wonderful War moment in this short but sweet series. This Rookie Thailand gem has everything: pre-glow up Bonz, the very best friends played by Prat, Win, and Bver, and in a surprising turn of events: a whole lot of substance.

We all know and love him as Shi Zhe Yu in We Best Love, Richard Lee is here to talk BL on today's episode. Zhe Yu is the lovable (if not a little grumpy) boy who fell victim to all of Zhou Shu Yi's (YU) pranks in No. 1 For You and his very well-dressed business associate in Fighting Mr. 2nd. Richard - who is also a world-class violinist - clarifies some very important information and talks about auditioning for WBL, the BL world, and his newest show Meow Meow Boss.

GAO SHI DE! We're talking all of the pranks, drama, and (of course) the suits from No. 1 For You & Fighting Mr. Second in this very special We Best Love double feature Series Sunday. From the infamous bridge confession scene to the proposal that melted hearts around the world, we're talking about every. single. moment.

Being a BL fan means more than just watching series (and reading subtitles). To really be a part of the Thai BL world you need to speak Thai, but the Thai language can be...intimidating. So William, a.k.a. My Thai Teacher, is here to teach us the most important Thai phrases that we need for peak BL enjoyment + language learning tips & tricks. Plus, he really likes A Tale of 1000 Stars.  Learn Thai with the best teacher in the world (not that we're biased) & follow William: IG: @mythaiteacher TikTok: @mythaiteacher

We're putting it all on the line this week with Life: Love on the Line (or Life: Senjou no Bokura if you're feeling the series over the Director's Cut movie). There's a lot to love about this story, and we're digging into all of the metaphors, seasonal imagery, and of course the beach frolic. And yes, we are definitely talking about THAT special appearance cameo.

It's staff appreciation day on Let's Talk BL. We're talking about all of our favorite makeup artists, hairstylists, fashion stylists, and behind-the-scenes crew that make BLs possible. Besides making our boys beautiful, they also give a look into a side of the BL world that we wouldn't otherwise see.
