Dr. Francisco Herrera, auxiliary faculty at Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and Convener of Prism Initiatives, sits down with Boston and Lyndon to discuss the ways in which Lutheranism and Marxism intersect. Sasha and Melissa Perron are competitive runners based on the unceded lands of the Lekwungen people. They are Kwakwaka’wakw from Da’naxda’xw First Nation. Boston, Lyndon, Sasha, and Melissa sit down in the studio to talk about running joined by Sandra, Sasha and Melissa’s mom! 

The conversation covers how the siblings got into running and how they have brought awareness to causes through running. This includes a 216 KM run to honour the 215+ children found on residential school grounds in 2021 starting with the Kamloops Indian Residential School. It also includes a recent BMO marathon where they brought awareness to MMIWG2S. There is also discussion on how running can be a profoundly spiritual act.

fosse chang is a member of and grassroots organizer with the Tzedek Collective, an anti-Zionist Jewish contingent working to further Palestinian liberation and collective liberation on the stolen land of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples (so called "Victoria, BC"). As a queer, trans, Asian Jewish settler on these lands, fosse stands at the intersection of many marginalized identities that inform their approach to liberation movements. fosse is interested in wrestling with how Jewish texts call on them to act in solidarity with marginalized peoples, from Turtle Island to Palestine. Boston, Lyndon and fosse discuss the history of Christian Zionism and its implications today. They also talk about Zionism as a political movement, and local efforts around anti-Zionist education and action. Finally, they talk about the complex web of allyship, and what to do when someone feels afraid to speak up or act. 

Rabbi Matthew Ponak is a local, independent Rabbi who teaches Jewish mysticism and works as a religious consultant. Matthew, Boston, and Lyndon talk with vulnerability and a willingness to sit in discomfort about different views on zionism and what is going on the Holy Land. They also discuss local and national antisemitism, critique of government, and looking beyond our echo chambers.

Boston and Lyndon discuss how climate anxiety can manifest in religious and non-religious spaces. They also discuss what role the church and greater community can play in these conversations, and how community organizing can help.

Boston and Lyndon discuss their experiences of lockdown and how it affected post-secondary and church life. They also discuss how people have responded and changed since the lockdown was lifted in the province and nationally. To end, they contrast right- and left-wing organizing during the pandemic, and where both groups are now. 

For months, the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and oppression around the world have been on the minds of most. Finally both back in the studio, Boston and Lyndon discuss their experiences with local actions of solidarity, the lack of overt Christian presence, and how that can be rectified. They also discuss antisemitism, extreme forms of protest in the US, and what Christians as individuals and a whole can be doing to support Palestinian people. 

Boston and Lyndon discuss their experiences with multifaith relationships; both at UVic, and in the wider community. How, in each space, there have been and continue to be opportunities for relationship and community building. They go on to talk about where the foundations are needed for this building, and how it can happen in the future.

Boston is away this week, so Lyndon dives deep into Lenten practices, the 40 days before Holy Week and Easter. What if we all had a bit more space for rest in our lives so that we could fully flourish as humans? Collectively as we dismantle systems of oppression, spiritual practices can ground us in love, so that we have time for creative pursuits as well.
