    Today's episode is with the incredibly strong Krystle, founder of @herwithendo and endometriosis and adenomyosis advocate. Krystle started her instagram account in 2018, after her endometriosis diagnosis. For years she wondered what was wrong with her body, and had to continually fight to receive answers and adequate treatment for her pain and symptoms. She has cultivated a following for speaking openly about her experiences with endo and adeno, but also mental health and life as a mum who is also chronically ill.

  • Let's Talk with Tegan Scates | Founder of High on Hemp

    Happy Wednesday beautiful souls, and helloooooo if you're new here! 

    Today's episode is with the incredible Tegan Scates, industry leader and founder of High on Hemp. Tegan’s journey within the Australian hemp industry commenced in 2014 which subsequently lead her to the creation of High on Hemp. High on Hemp was created with one goal in mind, to educate and raise awareness of sustainability, and how hemp can change the way we live and the environment we live in. Through High on Hemp, Tegan aims to challenge the stigma associated with cannabis and showcasing hemp as the natural, raw and rich resource it is. 

    Through Tegan's desire to play a key role within the industry and passion to educate those living in Australia on the insights and knowledge she has from her networks and extensive global travel encompassing hemp and cannabis has allowed her to create a community which focuses on education and advocacy. Since 2017, Tegan has been working with leaders across the globe through extending High on Hemp to also be Australia's first cannabis creative agency.

    Today's episode is with the delightful Christiane Gurner. Christiane is an academic, published writer,  and solo IVF mumma! Christiane has lived with endometriosis and adenomyosis for many years and has undergone nine laparoscopies, before having a hysterectomy recently for her adeno. She has openly shared her experiences of navigating the IVF and assisted fertility world solo, and the emotional toll losing embryos can have with publications such as The Sydney Morning Herald.

    • Christiane’s endo and adeno story and the subsequent stigma and trauma she’s faced through living with invisible illnesses

    Gooood morning LTP fam and HAPPY WEDNESDAY! I hope despite a lot of Aus currently being in lockdown that this ep can bring some light to your day. 

    Today's episode is with the absolutely incredible Jamila Main. Jamila is an actor, playwright and disability advocate, living on unceded Kaurna land in Adelaide South Australia. Jamila uses they/them pronouns and is a queer, nonbinary, ambulatory wheelchair user living with Endometriosis. Jamila is currently a Carclew Fellow and Artist in Residence, Co-Chair of the Equity Diversity Committee, and uses their Instagram @mamila_jain as a place of advocacy, community, and performance. Jamila has created various live performances exploring Endo and disability, and has been using live-streaming platforms since 2016 for audience accessibility.

  • Let's Talk with Lottie Drynan | Chronic Illness Advocate + Founder of You've Gut This

    Hellllooooo beautiful people and welcome back ( or welcome if you're new) to another ep of Let's Talk, Period. 

    Today’s episode is with the absolutely delightful Lottie Drynan. Lottie is best known for her “bloat friendly wardrobe” and first began her online journey sharing her struggles with IBS, anxiety and an eating disorder. Realising that there was a whole community of women who lived with chronic illnesses and battled with bloating, body image and everything in-between, Lottie made it her passion to provide support and uplifting messaging to her online audience to show others they’re not alone. Lottie’s open and honest approach to women’s health has enabled her to create a safe space and loyal community where there’s "no such thing as too much information”.  The heart of her content revolves around empowering women to better understand their bodies and feel good within themselves.

    In 2018, Lottie created the hashtag #mybloatedwardrobe and it soon became viral, being used by thousands globally, highlighting a fun approach to finding clothes that make you feel both comfortable and confident.

    Seeing the success of her authentic messaging and values, Lottie saw a huge increase in her social media following, which led to her confidently turning her passion into a business, leaving her job and launching ‘You’ve Gut This’; bringing a community to over 250,000 combined followers, including a private Facebook support group with monthly events. Just a few months later Lottie self-funded and released a wellness journal that sold out of pre-sale copies within two hours and has since been shipped to over 6,000 loyal followers.

    Winning ‘Chronic Illness Blogger of the Year’ in 2020, featuring on national radio, multiple podcasts and events Lottie has every bit of passion and energy needed to help women feel better in their bodies and minds.

    • Lottie’s experiences around living with gut symptoms which took over eight years, before receiving a diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome or IBS.

    Helloooo LTP fam and get ready for the latest ep of Let's Talk, Period.

    Today's episode is with the lovely Daisy Richardson! Daisy was a back to back contestant on two seasons of 'Australian Survivor'. Daisy grew up on her family cattle station in South-West Queensland, a 12 hour drive from Brisbane. Since the onset of her period and symptoms at 14 years old, she experienced countless dismissals from medical professionals, being told that there was nothing wrong with her. In 2017, Daisy was diagnosed with endometriosis after over 10 years of symptoms and many misdiagnoses. Daisy is passionate about connecting with others who are affected and advocating for correct information and treatment.

    • Daisy’s journey to her endo diagnosis and the physical intuition she had that something just wasn’t right
    • How going on Survivor changed her menstrual cycle and how she managed her endometriosis whilst on the show!

During this time, she has written a number of articles for The Guardian and the Women’s Agenda on the importance of access to free period products, and the impact that the pandemic has had on exacerbating period poverty, on top of being interviewed by the SMH, SBS, and Triple J. This year she was part of Modibodi’s Menstrual Health Day ‘End Period Poverty’ activation, where she spoke on a panel alongside Modibodi’s founder Kristy Chong, and founder of Share the Dignity Rochelle Courtenay, on the importance of sustainable period products in the international development space.

    Today's episode is with the incredible co-founder and CEO of the Australasian Birth Trauma Association, Amy Dawes. Amy is an effective advocate for bringing consumers, clinicians and researchers together to support women and families affected by birth-related trauma. In 2017, Amy launched the Australasian Birth Trauma Association (ABTA), she has established a not-for-profit organisation focused on the recognition and understanding of birth-related complications. With a multi-disciplinary advisory group of midwives, physiotherapists, obstetricians, gynaecologists, perinatal psychiatrists and clinical researchers, she is working to develop the resources and strategies to prevent and effectively manage birth-related trauma. Amy’s understanding of birth-related trauma has come from her own experience, and the many birthing people she has listened to and helped to find support. Amy’s vision is to break down the stigma attached to birth trauma, and empower birthing families to feel comfortable speaking out, so as to continue driving change in current maternity practices in Australia and New Zealand.
