After returning from the battle of the kings, Abram is met by Melchizedec. Who is this Melchizedec? And what is so significant about this encounter?
After Abram returns from the battle of the kings, God appears to him in a vision and reaffirms His promise of a seed and many descendants. Abram believes God and his faith (belief in God's promise) is counted as righteousness. This statement becomes the cornerstone of salvation. That is, salvation by faith alone.
After returning from the Battle of the Kings, God appears to Abram in a vision and restates His covenant. He later confirms that covenant with a visual ratification. Join me in a discussion of a number of principle items: blood covenant, unconditional covenant, the Land of Israel, etc.
In Genesis 15 we celebrate Abram's faith and God's making of the covenant with him. He is doing so well, only to fall once again in weakness of faith. How? Sarah concocts a plan to "help" God fulfill His promises and creates massive problems for the family and the descendants of Abraham unto this day. But mercifully God intervenes and restores stability to the household.
Introduction to the study of Revelation. Please listen and listen again.
Thirteen years after the incident of Hagar's birth of Ishmael to Abram, God returns to him and issues a sign of the covenant: circumcision. He changes Abram's and Sarai's names and goes on to inform Abraham that Ishmael is NOT the promised seed. God will give him another son, and that son (Isaac) will be the son of promise. Abraham ultimately believes God and in obedience is circumcised along with all the males of his household.
In the opening of the letter of Revelations, we are introduced to the author of this letter/book, the Trinity (the tri-une godhead of the Father, the Spirit and the Son). Also, the theme of the overall book is stated: "the coming of Jesus Christ". This is what is meant by apocalypse (unveiling). Be Sure to listen to the "Introduction to Revelation" before studying this book with me. https://youtu.be/-b2xT_EykCM
God returns for a visit with Abraham and confirms the birth of Isaac and strengthens the faith of Sarah. But, also while He is there, He reveals to Abraham the impending judgment upon Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham intercedes for them (namely his nephew Lot) and we learn some wonderful things about God's nature. (And we also clear up a modern-day false teaching about homosexuality as to why God destroyed Sodom.)
Revelation opens with a picture of Jesus as the God-Man who stands in the midst of His church as the Judge. Be sure to watch the previous study https://youtu.be/_vyhveYpXOA
Before we begin our study of the letters to the seven churches of chapters two and three, we need to discuss some introductory materials and how to understand (interpret) these letters to the churches. So pay careful attention to the points that we make here, because they will apply to all seven churches.
