Sam takes a moment to cross off bucket list items from one of the letters he's collected, trying his best to keep himself distracted. And yet- the impossibly coded journal and the strange, lemon scented letters he's found keep coming back to his mind. Could one of his letters serve as a cipher to all of his coded writing? And most importantly- what does the code mean?
A calendar brings joy and loss to Sam as he simultaneously plans out the essential elements to an epic birthday party, celebrates holidays, reads a letter he writes himself, and contemplates the risk or reward of eating the mushrooms from the wall or drinking a possibly expired jar of juice.
Sam unearths several objects from the “dirt room,” including a strange glass eye. Brushing off the idea that he might be cursed, Sam tries his hand at embroidery, lighting a fire, and reading one of his letters from Summer aloud. If only things weren’t going terribly wrong...
Caught between dreaming of food that doesn’t come out of a can and actually getting the courage to plant something, Sam is ultimately relieved to find a small handful of seeds from “the dirt room"- an empty room in the bunker with an unknown significance. Sam reminisces and reads a letter, only to remain haunted by a nightmare of what lies beneath the soil....
A little more settled in his recently non-abandoned bunker, Sam gives an auditory tour. The new addition to the bunker, Pogo, gives Sam the best idea as he momentarily becomes an archeologist. A wagon, the fun facts book, and letters bring some excitement to Sam’s day-to-day, but Pogo the dog starts acting a little strange…
Sam tries to adjust to a budding friendship with offerings of dehydrated beef jerky, then deciding to bring his new companion inside his non-abandoned bunker. Accompanied by a record player, a letter, fun facts, and radio static Sam makes an inventory of the bunker's items. The mystery of the bunker deepens with a new arrival and the finding of a weird, encoded item...
Desperate to make contact from an abandoned bunker, a somehow positive and talkative apocalypse survivor named Sam finally gets an old radio- his one hope of contacting human civilization- to work. Sam fills the radio waves with survival stories, music and readings from his collection of found letters, but a series of unsettling sounds from the depths of the bunker makes Sam wonder if he's alone as he thinks…
