Story Transcript:

Sl: Tomaž je stal v glavnem terminalu Letališča Jožeta Pučnika.
En: Tomaž stood in the main terminal of Letališče Jožeta Pučnika.

En: People were rushing around, various announcements could be heard from the loudspeakers, and the scent of coffee filled the air.

Sl: Ob veliki stekleni steni je opazoval Triglav v daljavi.
En: By the large glass wall, he observed Triglav in the distance.

En: Beside him stood his younger sister Katja with an excited smile on her face.

Sl: "Si spakirala vse?
En: "Did you pack everything?"

Sl: " je vprašal, ko je pogledoval k njenemu kovčku.
En: he asked, glancing at her suitcase.

Sl: "Ja, Tomaž," je rekla z iskrivimi očmi.
En: "Yes, Tomaž," she said with sparkling eyes.

Sl: "Vse imam.
En: "I have everything.

Sl: Komaj čakam, da pridem v London!
En: I can’t wait to get to London!"

Sl: "Tomaž je prikimal, vendar mu srce ni dalo miru.
En: Tomaž nodded, but his heart was restless.

Sl: Vedno se je počutil odgovornega zanjo.
En: He always felt responsible for her.

Sl: Zdaj bo sama v velikem mestu.
En: Now she would be alone in a big city.

En: His heart beat anxiously, but he tried hard to hide it.

Sl: "Veš, da moraš biti previdna, kajne?
En: "You know you need to be careful, right?"

Sl: " je končno rekel, zaskrbljeno.
En: he finally said, worriedly.

Sl: "London je veliko mesto.
En: "London is a big city."

Sl: "Katja je zavzdihnila.
En: Katja sighed.

Sl: "Vem, Tomaž.
En: "I know, Tomaž.

Sl: Bom v redu.
En: I’ll be fine.

Sl: Res.

En: The departure gate was near, and time was running out quickly.

En: His fear grew, but he had to suppress his emotions to not spoil her excitement.

En: "You’ve never been this far away before," he said more to himself than to her.

Sl: Katja se je nasmehnila.
En: Katja smiled.

Sl: "In ti tudi ne.
En: "And neither have you.

Sl: No, morda je čas, da me prideš obiskat!
En: Well, maybe it’s time for you to visit me!"

Sl: "Tomaž se je nasmejal tej misli.
En: Tomaž laughed at the thought.

Sl: Morda res ni tako slabo.
En: Maybe it wasn’t so bad.

Sl: "Bom velikokrat pisal, obljubim," je dejal.
En: "I’ll write often, I promise," he said.

En: "And I’ll visit you as soon as I can."

En: As they were saying goodbye at the gate, Katja became slightly emotional.

Sl: "Veš, tudi mene boš pogrešal.
En: "You know, you’ll miss me too."

En: This was the moment to express what was weighing on him.

Sl: "Katja," je začel nežno.
En: "Katja," he began gently.

En: "It’s very important to me that you know how much you mean to me.

Sl: In, da bo vse vedno v redu, če bova ostala v stiku.
En: And that everything will always be okay if we stay in touch."

Sl: "Katja ga je objela.
En: Katja hugged him.

En: That hug said more than words.

Sl: "Vedno bova v stiku," je zašepetala.
En: "We’ll always stay in touch," she whispered.

En: "And even from afar, we’ll be brother and sister."

En: She left him at the gate with a smile, turned, and went with her suitcase towards the security check.

En: Tomaž stayed, waving at her, feeling that something had deepened between them.

Sl: Čeprav je bil oddaljen, je bil hkrati zdaj bližje.
En: Although he was distant, he was now simultaneously closer.

En: As Katja disappeared from his sight, Tomaž knew everything would be fine.

Sl: Oba sta se naučila nekaj novega — Tomaž zaupati njej, ona pa ceniti njun odnos.
En: Both of them had learned something new — Tomaž to trust her, and her to appreciate their relationship.

Sl: Njuno povezavo bo razdalja le še okrepila.
En: The distance would only strengthen their bond.
