  • Level Up and Tell Your Story

015: This week's episode has been highly requested and long overdue. I am finally sharing my story! In this solo chat, I dive into my experiences of perfectionism from an early age, history of an eating disorder and toxic relationship with food, my body, and exercise, and the long, but worthwhile, process of recovery. I also share how I transitioned into college, rediscovered my love for fitness without restriction, and gained confidence in and out of the gym. A major theme you will hear is my lifelong love for storytelling and the importance of sharing your story.

Content warning: In this episode, I discuss my experiences with anorexia and mental illness. If this is a sensitive topic, I recommend skipping portions of this recording or the entire episode.

After a long teaching career, she became provost at Bucknell University before coming to F&M as president in 2018. She is the mother of two sons.

In our conversation, we dive into President Altmann's journey through the many twists and turns in her education and career. She shares the importance of bringing humility into your leadership, and in incorporating joy into any difficult job or task. We also get into the challenges facing higher education today, and how young people can use their skills to be adaptable and tackle the issues of our world.
