Terri Jackson, the Director of Operations for the WNBA Player’s Association, joins Bobbi-Sue Doyle-Hazard on this week’s Leveling the Playing Field. Terri was with the WNBPA for just a few weeks when the “hot summer” in America of 2016 occurred. Through her leadership and the leadership of the PA’s executive team, the athletes of the WNBA accomplished something never seen before in history, a unified front on hot button social issues.
Terri takes Bobbi-Sue through that time period and gives great insight into how the athletes came to the position they did and how Terri backed them up. In addition, the two talk about Terri’s background with the NCAA, how the men in her life help her “street cred,” and the impact that journaling has on her and her family, among many other topics.

In the third episode of Leveling the Playing Field, Bobbi-Sue Doyle-Hazard speaks with Denise White, CEO of EAG Sports Management. EAG Sports Management has been servicing the PR, Marketing, Personal, and Business needs of high profile professional athletes for almost two decades.
Denise’s professional career began as a traffic reporter and then on to being a production assistant in Hollywood. It was during her time working on the show “Sparks” when she met the man who would give her the nudge to open her own shop. That man is the one and only Samuel L. Jackson. Denise quickly realized that there was a niche that needed to be filled in the sports industry, particularly with football players in the NFL. She created EAG Sports Management to fill that niche and has been killing it ever since. Bobbi-Sue and Denise talk about the curvy path Denise took to where she is now.
They also talk for quite a while about mental illness. Denise’s mom was schizophrenic, bipolar and manic depressive. Due to the shame Denise felt growing up, she never talked about it. That is until her client, Brandon Marshall, was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and wanted to use his platform to speak out about it to bring awareness and break the stigma. Bobbi-Sue opens up about her mother’s mental health struggles and her own issues with depression and anxiety. Denise also talks about Project 375 and how the foundation is helping children get help for mental illness.
In between the serious discussions, there are some lighter topics touched on such as the movie being made about Denise’s life starring Jennifer Aniston (“The Fixer“), Denise and Bobbi-Sue’s love of animals, and Bobbi-Sue’s random obsession with goats thanks to the @GoatsofAnarchy Instagram.
This episode is full of information about the agency world, how crisis management is now a major part of the role, and an inside view of what the advisors of athletes see in professional sports.

This week’s Leveling the Playing Field was recorded in person as Bobbi-Sue interviews Dr. Jen Welter, the first female coach in the NFL, former professional football player, sports psychologist, and author. Jen is one of the best women’s football players in the world. She played professionally for 15 years, won 4 championships, was on Team USA when the team won the first and second gold medals in the sport ever and went to 8 pro bowls. As if that wasn’t enough, Jen went on to make history in the men’s game 3 times.
Dr. Welter’s journey from tennis player to coach in the NFL is inspiring. The women chat about everything from when Jen was asked not to try out for her high school football team (and why it was for a good reason) to her new book, Play Big. Make sure you subscribe, rate, and review on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, TuneIn Radio, Google Play, and RadioInfluence.com.

Radio Influence is pleased to welcome sports attorney and advocate for women in sports Bobbi-Sue Doyle-Hazard and her new podcast, “LEVELING THE PLAYING FIELD,” to the Radio Influence family beginning Wednesday, August 16, 2017.
Each Wednesday, Bobbi-Sue Doyle-Hazard interviews women in all stages of their careers in the sports industry about their lives, career paths, and passions. While women have been making advances in sports since Title IX was passed, there is still more work to be done. Bobbi-Sue’s goal with each interview is two-fold: Highlight women making their mark on the industry and provide young women with a resource to learn about the varied careers and paths to make it in sports.
Bobbi-Sue Doyle-Hazard attended UMass (Amherst), where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies. She is a graduate of Penn State University’s Dickinson School of Law and is currently Assistant General Counsel for a professional sports team.
“Bobbi-Sue is a breath of fresh air in a male dominated industry. Women have made so many strides in the sports world over the last 15-20 years but I’ve found during my time in sports media, women tend to have a much more difficult road to success and don’t always get a fair shake,” said Jerry Petuck, CEO of Radio Influence. “What Bobbi-Sue is doing is bringing forward successful women in their respective fields to show young girls, young women, and women of all ages that nothing should stand in their way if they want to get into the sports world. I’m glad to be able to help her deliver such a great message.”
“I am so excited to launch this podcast featuring women who work in sports. My goal is to provide a resource for young women looking at breaking into the industry,” said Doyle-Hazard. “The guys at Radio Influence have been so helpful and supportive. I’m thankful to have them guiding me through this podcast journey.”
“LEVELING THE PLAYING FIELD” will debut Wednesday, August 16, 2017 on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, TuneIn Radio, Google Play, and RadioInfluence.com.
The Radio Influence family of shows include a variety of both terrestrial radio hosts and established internet providing a great mix and different perspectives on sports, entertainment, lifestyle, and more.
