Having established the purpose of Leviticus and the system of animal sacrifices, we now move to the only historical section in the third book of the Torah which recounts the ordination of the priests. Aaron and his sons are set apart for sacred service and at first, everything goes exactly as God intended. Tragically, two of Aaron's sons offer something which the LORD had not commanded and God responded with immediate judgement.
