Ken Miller is an absolute Aussie mining legend. He had a well decorated 45 year career in the Underground Mining industry, working all over the country and throughout the world. Mt Isa, Kambalda, FIFO WA, Freeport and Bulgaria, Kenny has done it all. We attempted to condense his 45 year career into one episode, hence why this is a 3 hour marathon. It is also a very emotional interview in parts, where Kenny had some near misses and also lost mates due to Mining accidents throughout his career. Well this was a very emotional and powerful interview. Robina Haines lost her husband Nigel suddenly and tragically in 2015. Nigel passed away whilst on site working at the Yandi Iron Ore project. He suffered a cardiac arrest from a blood clot, leaving behind Robina and their 3 children Jaxon, Savannah and Orlando. Then 12 months later, Robina was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

After going through the fight of her life, Robina now dedicates her life to helping other families that have suffered a similar tragedy. She has written 3 books, that can be purchased at www.robinahaines.com.au. Her first book “Hello Grief Be My Friend” takes you through first-hand both the journey of Robina’s grief and her fight with Breast Cancer. Her other 2 books, “My Shining Star” and “My Warrior Mum” are children’s books that Robina wrote to help her son Orlando through the horrible time of losing his father. 

This is a very powerful interview and if you know anyone that is going or has gone through a similar tragedy, please forward this episode onto them. Robina’s strength, resilience and positive attitude may just let these people know that one day, everything will be ok.

For our first Mining Legend, we’ve got Dave Law. Dave has 47 years Mining experience where he covered Airlegging, Shaft Sinking and all levels of Management for Underground Mining. Dave is a very well known Underground Mining figure that many Miners worked with and followed around for years with Eltin, Barminco and ACM. We had a great yarn about Dave’s Mining career and we reflected on all the things that have changed in Mining for both the better and for the worse. Great yarn so sit back and enjoy.

Cameron McLeay kindly joined us for a quick interview at the 2021 Underground Operators Conference. Being the son of Entech’s Shane McLeay, Cam also has aspirations of becoming a Mining Engineer just like his Dad. We had a quick yarn regarding what he knows about both Mining and Entech.
