Dennis Byrne, who most of you will know as Megzy currently works as a Charge-Up trainer and Shift Boss in the Congo. Megzy has an intelligent red head on his shoulders and goes into the challenges of working in Africa, shares some of his Longhole and Charge-Up knowledge along with much more. Cheers Megzy for coming along and shouting me a carton of bush chooks.
Myself and David Tucker bounce around some tips and tricks for being a good nipper. This was after night shift and a few cans so we may have been a bit delirious by the end.
Steve Poznik and I go deep into one of the major issues that our society battles with today, MENTAL HEALTH. This is a very raw and honest conversation about suicides and what we can do as a collective to both help sufferers and also support people who are left behind. It was an honour to talk to Pozzy about something that is so close to his heart.
In Part 2 with Percy Porter we continue on to get some advice from the Project Manager’s perspective regarding underground workers wanting to get promotions. Percy details the qualities and behaviours he looks for in people that will see them prosper in the mining industry. We discuss some of the nicknames Percy has been given over the years before we get into his All-Star Mining crew.
We went Facebook Live and shared absolutely no relevant information (just a disclaimer). We did the draw for Tucker’s Black Dog Institute gig for $200 worth of Dirty Hole Designs gear. Talked bulk shit with Tucker as per usual.
Adam Turns is looking towards the future of safety, where we can remove all the bullshit and make it simpler to work in mining. There are trials that have already been conducted at Woolworths, where all the Safety Systems and Procedures were removed and it made absolutely no difference to the amount of incidents. Would you like to see a trial like this in the Mining Industry?
If everyone can complete the survey below (it takes 2 mins) and this will help Turnsy gather some data that can be taken to the Mines Department to hopefully get a trial in the future. Please make sure you do this survey, its all in our best interest.
