6PR Mornings host Liam Bartlett said Australia's qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, against the odds after a tense penalty shootout against Peru, was "a great day for the round ball game in Australia".
Former Socceroos captain Paul Wade told Bartlett there was little pressure on goalkeepers in penalty shoot-outs.
"If he lets one in, well it's because the striker is too good. If he doesn't, he's an absolute hero," he said.
Bartlett also played audio of 6PR sports broadcaster Brad Hardie predicting the Socceroos would qualify on penalties, and questioned whether people would be willing to travel to Qatar for the tournament, given the country's human rights record.
