This is the first book in the Liar Girl series telling the story of 16-year-old Stephanie Dawson from Rhyl in North Wales. She just can't stop telling lies and whilst they may only start as small lies, they quickly become bigger and bigger and she has to cover these with more lies. This is both funny and also dramatic, as you are left wondering just how many she will get away with.

"The truth will ALWAYS catch up to you"
I have read MANY teenage to young adult books in my life however nothing compares to this book. Mr. Govier was smart thinking by making the book short yet filling it with knowledge that will assist a child that maybe going through or have gone through the same issues.
Letâs discuss the book: One thing I love is that the book can be read by a person as young as 10 or 11 years old in my opinion. As a parent, I was overjoyed that there was no sexual content (there was a kiss here and there). I would like to thank Mr. Govier for allowing the kids to be just kids, experiencing normal situations that occur in a growing teenâs life without it being over sexualized.
Stephanie is your average teen that just wants to be happy and sometimes stretches the truth to make it happen. She has a very small group of friends and family and no matter the level of dysfunction she loves them. Stephanie does eventually find her way although it was a forced situation. This book teaches teens that there is no such thing as a âsmall lieâ and once you tell one lie you will have to continue to tell them.
