Concluding the Olivet Discourse, Jesus warns His followers to watch ourselves and keep alert. Because He is coming as a righteous judge, we must walk in holiness and purity. Soon His faithful ones will stand before Him clothed in His righteousness granted to us by grace through faith.

At the end of the Olivet Discourse, Jesus affirmed the authority and permanence of His teaching. The promises of God are true and will be fulfilled in their proper time. His kingdom will be established soon-

Jesus mentions many of the final supernatural events that will occur just before His return, -Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.-

God's covenant with Israel promised both blessings for their obedience and cursing for their disobedience. The people's rejection of Jesus brought about the destruction of the temple and the entire city in AD 70. And God's future and final judgment upon the city will precede the return of Jesus to rule and reign on the throne of David in Jerusalem.

Before the final judgment, Jesus' followers will have the opportunity to proclaim their loyalty to Him. Many will suffer persecution because of the name of Jesus. But Jesus comforts us, -Yet not a hair of your head will perish. By your endurance you will gain your lives.-

The judgment of God will certainly come upon the earth and its unbelieving inhabitants. The disciples asked, -Teacher, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when these things are about to take place-- The specific destruction of Jerusalem would occur soon, then later comes the culmination of God's judgment.

Jesus posed a question to His critics which cut to the heart of the issue all people of all ages must deal with- Who is Christ- By quoting David's psalm, Jesus showed that David's son is also David's Lord. While Jesus descended from David, He is also greater than David. As Messiah, all people must rightly confess Jesus as Lord or be condemned as His enemies.

The Sadducees thought they could stump Jesus with their question about marriage in the resurrection. But Jesus refuted their ignorance and challenged them with the truth of God's Word. He also appealed to their desire for life by stating that only those who are considered worthy will attain to that resurrection.

Far different than every earthly ruler, Jesus the Messiah is perfectly wise, powerfully victorious, bountifully kind, and comprehensively helpful. Worship Him and find Him to be your sufficiency and delight. -Partial recording-

The religious leaders tried again to catch Jesus in a saying. And they failed again. They hoped that Rome would take care of Jesus by exposing His supposed insurrectionist ideas about the propriety of paying taxes. But Jesus showed their hypocrisy and open rebellion against God when He asked, -Show Me a denarius.-
