Libra Radio

Eric Cloutier (Palinoia Records, Berlin) has joined us with two intense mixes for his sign, Scorpio. Intentionally released on his Birthday — also Devil’s Night, his mixes harness the energy of the uncertain and intense Full Blue Moon on October 31st.

Scorpios want to know the secret within a secret and Eric is the quintessential Scorpio.

“I’m massively passionate about my music and what I play and produce, I'm maybe too convicted and persistent in my digging and hunting for unique tunes that others don't know or have, I'm more than secretive…” -Eric Cloutier

Despite Eric's secrecy, he shares his passion with members of his cult… Looking for that obscure track no one has? You can access this Scorpio’s countless hours of selecting and record digging because he has done all the work and unlocked the secret for you with his Shoppin’ the Shelves Series. Find out more on his Patreon and receive a new monthly free track produced by Eric.

We recommend listening on a good set of speakers or headphones so you don’t miss the deep and dark sub bass tones of his Ambient Mix resonating in your mind. Dark and moody with subtle bass drops, his Ambient mix sets up the foundation to prepare you for his Slo-mo Psychedelics mix. It’s a dark hypnotic mental aerobic work out where one may finally unlock the mind with the help of the mysterious Scorpio.

It’s Libra Season, the season of balance, harmony and justice. This all-vinyl mix from one of our favorite Libras, Chicago’s Sassmouth will give you a much needed breath of fresh air. But don’t expect it to be all light and airy — the mix features techno tracks with a storm like energy that will get you moving. Libra is an Air Sign and balance is important.

So as you listen, imagine yourself at an outdoor party— perhaps a hypothetical future windy mountain rave or a boat party where Sassmouth creates connection through air via her thoughtful mix, Libra style.

“Fresh air is the most important thing right now, to be able to see each other in person, like at an outdoor gathering.

Quarantine has been hard for us Libras — we are naturally very social beings and miss hugs and laughing and the intimacy that happens on dance floors with everyone at parties.” -Sassmouth

Virgo is upon us and we present to you an all-vinyl mix of high speed underground and esoteric hard/ core/ tek/ step curated by Bay Area artist Article C.

With both his Sun and Mars in Virgo, his selections begin with a mind bend and are recorded battle style on two 1200s through a Rane TTM57, never resting and refining the aspects of his offerings.

Article C (one of his many monikers) has appeared at Mutek SF, Recombinant Fest and has hosted various undergrounds over the years. After a hiatus his Parhelia EP was released in late July.

Always conceptual, Article C’s visual communication of flashing collaged imagery (or stills) in live performances and artwork adds to the sort of visual meets physical and emotional energy flow — as if being projected from his own Virgo mind.

This mix features selections from the following catalogues: [Bourinage 01] [3672*1 24] [NRT029] [Fragment Of Memory 01] [OR100] [VRS 003] [STUDIO 23 01] [DR001] [NRT035] [Y0] [YAYA 020] [U.BD_45.07] [RUBICON 01] [HL 26]

One burning question echos throughout the mix : “Curley Where Are You?”

Get ready to gag and glitch out on this industrial techno meets extraterrestrial cult mix by producer, DJ, artist & model HIM HUN. She is the perfect 2 sided Gemini, Harmen Hun on one side and HIM HUN on the other. After all, it is her signature style to lead you into the darkness with distorted drums and hypnotic vocals.  While listening to her mix you will be mesmerized by her electricity and then she will cradle you in a dreamlike comedown for a surreal ending. Be careful though, HIM HUN will pull you into her dimension and you may never come back. Trust me, you wont want to she’s addictive.

Look out for her new album, Verstoßen on Halcyon Veil, her feature on the New World Dysorder Compilation and buy and stream Blithe on the Coochella Bandcamp. Follow HIM HUN on Instagram and her Facebook fan page to stay updated on everything Him. Please consider donating to Harmen’s Transition Fund if you can.

Ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, Gemini is a lover and a fighter rolled into one. Chicago’s Soraya Alem aka DANA has curated a mix for us with deep textured sounds, colorful chords and basslines propelling the inspiring powerful voices of Black artists. Her mix harnesses the much needed revolutionary energy we need right now to keep the movement going and reminds us there is still so much work to be done. DANA showcases the power of house music and how it can be full of rage and love, a duality that brings with it reflection.

“House music was the reason I moved to Chicago and it’s what reminds me to keep going when I’m feeling completely defeated. This mix is my love letter to house music, to the people who made it and the revolution.” - DANA

DANA also runs Club Bubble 1 with her Taurus partner Jarvi aka Acid Daddy on Twitch.tv. Tune in this Sunday 12pm CST - 9:30pm CST for a collaboration with Mesh, a queer centered underground party in Pittsburgh run by Sisgirl and Chadkid, known for their ethereal and dreamy spaces.

His mix has a nice balance of driving peak time techno and hypnotic mind trip whirlpool ambient sounds. Feeling stuck in isolation? Let this synthesizer journey of original music from SF artist vonXylander take you on a mind mission. His sound design is both energizing and soothing, channeling Japanese synth music from the 70s. You will definitely feel the apocalyptic signs of the time we are in and by the end you will feel resolved. So sit on your balcony and watch the sun rise (or set) as you listen and enjoy the physical realm, as a Taurus does.

For the second half of Taurus season we are excited to feature Jarvi aka Acid Daddy and their perfect Mix of generative energy and chill out vibes to take us down (or up) a notch during these uncertain times.

“My brain has 100 million thoughts going at all times and the breaks and intensity of the percussion are the energy release, while the deep subby basslines chill out and soothe.”

-Acid Daddy

Their mix series Acid Daddy’s Dieselcast features inspiring queer DIY artists and their allies. One of the first of its kind, it eventually gave birth to their label Identity Spectrum Records, on digital & vinyl. The first release, THE WAY OF THE RAVE, is available on Bandcamp and “the compilation is part of a series showcasing artists from various realms of the musical universe who connect us all to the healing power of the rave.” Their most current project with their Gemini partner Soraya, a virtual rave streaming from featured artists homes via their home in Chicago on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm - 12am CST at twitch.tv/club_bubble1. Naturally, Jarvi and Soraya made use of the chaos of quarantine and created a place to share and listen to music while keeping connected, (think bubbly visuals, a place to connect with other creatives in the chat, to be yourself and share your music and mixes).

Taurus has arrived with a special mix from the other half of Libra Radio, Alden F. Born opposite to Libra on the Zodiac, this Taurus brings his audio engineering and mastering background like a true Bull. His productions are influenced by 90s industrial and rave music thru techno. There is an obvious sci-fi quality to his sound design that he pulls into the physical realm. He makes use of this 130 BPM energy by mixing his own productions (most of which you can find on the Boston techno label Tight Groove) with tracks from like minded artists . Nothing short of taking risks, this Taurus creates and manifests a stable and consistent rhythm.

Surprise! Amadeezy aka Bass Boss has arrived just in time to get your mind off this pandemic and help you flatten the curve. For the second half of Aries stay home, stay safe and tune in to this ghetto house and electro bass heavy mix featuring his Remix- Bend Ya Back. This mix is pure FIRE a flavorful blend of Miami Bass and Detroit sound (with a nice AUX88 moment sprinkled into the heat) Amadeezy curates a genius unfussy mix featuring the pioneers of his signature bass sound as well as up and comings. His new EP is out now on Moveltraxx. This Aries doesn’t back down.
