The role of libraries in a society. Public libraries exist to provide free universal access to information and culture, a noble goal that a law called copyright stands opposed to. As someone who believes in the ideals of what libraries stand for and that they are important for a society, I thus oppose copyright for this reason. Copyright seeks to prohibit sharing which is the fundamental function of a public library. Although public libraries are often allowed exist as a sort of exception in a world where copyright is prevalent, if not for copyright libraries could expand their operations tremendously. Free universal access to culture information!
